Job description

Responsible for the delivery, co-ordination and customer experience throughout the life cycle of the project. The role with include international travel and will be a mixture of home based, site based and office based working.
The Project Manager will represent the Orion image at all times and ensure that a professional relationship with the client is developed and maintained.


  • Accountable for the delivery of materials handling Automation projects; ensuring projects are adequately planned and resourced to deliver outcomes to time, cost and quality

  • Accountable for ensuring that projects are delivered to time and budget in a dynamic and fast paced environment , maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction.

  • Accountable for understanding, mitigating and escalating risks.

  • Responsible for developing individuals and managing resources in the team as appropriate to ensure that people can maximise their contribution to the business and that suitably qualified and experienced resources are sustained

  • Accomplish results by communicating job expectations to relevant staff; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures

  • Work alongside head of project delivery to continually improve project and programme management artefacts and ways of working such as project initiation documentation, project plans, risk and stakeholder’s matrices and business cases

  • Extensive demonstratable experience of successfully delivering and leading large scale/complex technology programmes to time, cost and quality

  • Extensive demonstratable experience of managing both Mechanical and electrical teams including Project Managers, Engineers, software engineers and technicians.

  • Extensive demonstratable experience of using project and programme management tools (for example MSP) to manage plans.

  • Extensive demonstratable experience of successfully managing change teams from a line management and development perspective

  • Strong communication and influencing skills and the ability to build relationships and influence senior stakeholders

  • Good working knowledge of automation equipment.

  • Familiar with programme management methodologies (for example APMP, MSP)

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, business impact and business change with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence

  • Be eligible for security clearance to SC level

  • Willingness to travel to other UK locations and a full UK Driving licence
